Water Resources and Meteorology Ministry Receives 53 Agricultural Machineries from Japan

Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has received 53 of 115 agricultural machineries worth over US$ 11 million in grant aid from Japan to serve Cambodian premier’s irrigation policy.

The rest will arrive in late July and August, according to an official of the ministry.

Japanese government decided to provide 115 machineries along with spare parts in grant aid to the ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology to serve the irrigation policy of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, according to Meteorology and Water Resources Minister H.E. Lim Kean Hor, who was quoted as saying on July 29.

Those machineries will be distributed to five target areas such as Phnom Penh, and provinces of Battambang, Oddar Meanchey, Takeo and Svay Rieng for the interests of the agricultural field, he said.

The irrigation construction projects have so far been completed 70 percent in the country and the work is nearing completion in the future at a total cost of over US$ 120 million in cooperation with China, he said.
